One of the hands has fallen off my watch. The train's passed the switch. Sharpen the end of the stick a little. He pricked up his ears. There's your friend. What have you got there in your pocket? That way, please. Your hat's somewhere around here. Hello there, what's new? He tried to choke him. Many animals were drowned in the flood. This room's so small and hot that I'm suffocating. I'm going home now. Now, what do you think?

Now then, let's get this problem cleared up. Do it right away. He just left. We'll do it this way from now on. Up to now we've never had this problem. We have enough food for the present. They hanged him the same day. We're going to see him right now. How much have we saved this month? The air in this room's very stuffy. There's a very strong wind blowing. He looks like a millionaire. He looked very tired. We spent three hours in the open air. Se da aires de persona importante. He puts on airs. Don't meddle in other people's affairs. He started swearing. You have to tighten those screws. This cover doesn't fit.

They met to decide peace terms. Let's settle accounts. He lifted the trunk to show off his strength. The sleeves of this coat have to be lengthened. Would you hand me the suitcase, please? The children are making a lot of noise. He's always short of money. They caught up with us quickly. I can't reach that can of tomatoes. He reached the rank of general. From here I can't see it. The flowers will brighten up the table. I'm very glad to see you. Why are you so happy today?

They're very cheerful people. What a bright-colored suit that is! He's a little tipsy. He showed great joy when he saw him. He was ill, but today he's all right. She needs a little cheering up. Encourage him to do it.

Have you something to tell me? It seems rather expensive to me. Have you got some money? You must have a reason for telling me. I don't know whether this'll be of any use to you. Somebody's knocking at the door. Has anybody come? I hope you'll come again some day. I want to ask you some questions. Do you want to ask me any questions? Do you need anything else? He visits us now and then. Some people have no patience. He was out of breath when he got here.

Es una persona de muchos alientos. He's a very energetic person. We have to lighten the load. Hurry up, it's late. This food's not nourishing enough.

He enlisted in the Foreign Legion. We'd better get ready early because the train won't wait. There it is! He's up there waiting for you. Your friends are in there. Let's go that way. The village is beyond those trees. I saw 'em over there a while ago. Put it over there. His house is there on the right. She lives far from there. From there one could see perfectly. He says we should go that way. It's a town of people. My dear child! Lo siento en el alma. I'm terribly sorry.

Lo voy a consultar con la almohada. I'm going to sleep on it i. They rented a house. Rooms for rent. They were sitting around the table. It cost about thirty pesos. We have to make some changes in our plans. He showed signs of great emotion. There were disorders all over the country. His coming changed our lives completely. Don't get excited; it's nothing. What's that very tall building?

He talked to a high official of the Treasury Department. Prices are very high in this store. Don't talk so loud. He returned very late at night.

They live in the upper story of that house. The house is on top of the hill. We've overlooked many important facts. We stopped along the way to have lunch. The soldiers halted at the entrance to the town. I don't feel well at such a high altitude. The lighting's poor in this part of the city. The street lamps don't give enough light. Can you light the way? He didn't raise his eyes from the book. They revolted against the government. He stole the money. In the summer it dawns earlier than in the winter. That guy's very embittered.

He makes life miserable for everyone around him. He couldn't stand the bitterness of the coffee. His misfortunes caused him great bitterness. They soon became friends. He made friends with John. He got acquainted there in a short time. We talked with the owner of the house. Don't tell the boss. He likes to talk of love. He's found a new love. Yes, darling. He has too much pride. He was peeved by what you said. I want an enlargement of this photograph. They furnished the house very luxuriously. Do you think the road's wide enough for cars? This suit's too big for me.

What's the width of the material? We took a long hike up to the summit. You're a great gadabout, my boy. It's too far to walk. The train began to move. Is that clock going? I've been chasing around all day. He didn't win the prize, but he came close to it. The child's going on seven. Move on! Go on! The jockey fell right by the rail.

The liveliness of the gathering surprised me. Don't be a jackass! Let's encourage the players. His arrival pepped up the party. I'm urging him to come with us. He was in good spirits. She cheered him up because he was depressed. It gets dark at five now. I'm anxious to meet her. The year before last we went to Europe.

I told you that before. This street used to have another name. Let's eat before we go. They left before we arrived. Above all, don't forget to write me. He lent me 30 pesos. They advanced the date of the party. They arrived half an hour early. He got ahead of me. She likes to dress in an old-fashioned way. She does whatever comes into her mind. Lo hago porque se me antoja. I do it because I take a notion to. Happy New Year. I'm twenty years old. Put out the light. The lights went out. He was surprised by the sudden appearance of his friend.

That's a separate question. Put this package aside. Don't get off while the vehicle's in motion. They were grieved by the illness of their aunt. We were worried because we weren't getting any news. He can hardly walk. Let me know as soon as he comes. He got very depressed after his failure. They crushed all resistance.

They flattened his nose. They flattened themselves against the wall. He's very studious. They put a coat of paint on the chair. How much do you bet? I bet I get there before you. Rest your foot on that step. No one supported his motion. I second the motion. He's leaning on a cane. I have great respect for him. Don't walk so fast; we'll get there on time.

Please hurry; we're late already. Tighten this screw. This collar's too tight. He pressed down on the suitcase to close it. He gripped my hand. The runner sprinted on the last lap. There was such a crowd that nobody saw anything. He does everything very quickly. I don't approve of his conduct. Did you pass your math exam? The boss had to advance him some money. She made use of all the left-overs. Don't let him take advantage of you. Don't go too near the fire. You're aiming too low to hit the target. Jot it down in your notebook. They drained their glasses.

The situation worries me very much. Don't worry. Hurry up, child! Hurry up! I bought that scarf we looked at yesterday. I like this book better than that one. He isn't here. I'll wait for you in here. From now on we'll have to spend less money. Come this way. Wet firewood doesn't burn well. I was burned up by what he said. His arguments don't convince me. I didn't like the plot of the movie. They armed the people. The machine has to be assembled. They made a big racket last night. The mules balked halfway there. He armed himself with a pistol. He built up a good business in a short time.

He's always making a mess of things. He's always broke at the end of the month. Three pages have been torn out. We saw the car start. On a sudden impulse I returned to my home town. This car has a self-starter. What a heel! He gets everything because he's a bootlicker. He was dragged along by the current. Be careful, your coat's dragging. They crawled out of the cave. Is everything arranged for the trip? I think they'll fix the radio this afternoon. Tidy up a bit and we'll go to the movies.

How can I manage to finish on time? We did it according to your instructions. Do you want to rent your house? I want to rent a room. You'll be sorry for this. They live two flights up. The bedrooms are upstairs. It's past the square. He looked him up and down. From above one could see the river. The car was going up. Let's go up. The hat was dirty around the top. He doesn't mind risking his life. If we don't take risks we'll never get anything done.

Don't put the table so close to the wall. Give me a hand! Don't throw things out the window. That rope has to be coiled. They were trampled by the crowd. That man ruined them completely. He was ruined by that business. Are you interested in art? Fine arts. He presents his arguments with great skill. Read the article on page two. They sell sporting goods. Let's roast the chestnuts. It's roasting in this room. The balloon went up slowly. He was promoted three times in one year. The bill amounted to pesos. He refused the food with disgust. Those things disgust me.

Don't come near me; you're filthy. He turns up his nose at everything. He fastened the horse's pack with a rope. I assure you everything will be ready on time. He maintains it's true. The baggage is insured. First make sure the information's correct. He took out accident insurance. That's the way it is. You must do it this way. And so they decided to act immediately. I don't say it without reason.

I'll let you know as soon as I get there. Your attendance isn't necessary. I took care of him during his illness. Were you present at the meeting? The wash'll have to be put in the sun to dry. They were taking a sun bath on the beach. He put his head out of the window. It's forbidden to lean out of windows. He amazes everybody by his cleverness. I'm amazed that you say that. He assumed full responsibility. What's the subject of that play? Don't meddle in my affairs. Your screams frightened me. She's frightened by loud noises. If we go this way we'll catch up with 'em.

He cut him short by saying no. Lace your shoes up tight. When I heard that I put two and two together. I've danced so much that I'm dizzy. The announcer called for attention. I'll never forget your kindness. She likes to attract attention. I reprimanded him for his insolence.

The clerk waited on them immediately. Please pay attention to what I'm saying. He takes very good care of his guests. I don't know what to depend on. There was an attempt on the life of the president. Su atento seguro servidor. Very truly yours. He guessed the amount of money I had in my pocket. He didn't succeed in explaining what he wanted.

  • I can't find the keyhole. I've never seen such a scatterbrain. What an attractive woman! She's very pretty but she has no appeal. She takes no medication so that she can keep all control over her reason. And then everything collapses. She gets a call from within. Her children haunt her. And the husband has a strange face. Just in case, she grabs a knife and hides in the bedroom. She knows that is not her family. They have been swapped. They took her real children and husband away, and she was left with strangers. The signs are clear. The suffering mark positioned itself in her look, and her look connects with the root.

If her children and husband are swapped, there is nothing left for her. And where are her real children? She will have to find them and protect them, and take them with her to the root, which is refuge. It could be that her children are inside those children that replace them; she is going to open their bodies to check, and for that, she got the knife. If she manages to remove them from the interior that entraps them, she will take them with her to save them.

The mother is the one who protects her real children from the fake ones. The transplant took place while she slept, but there is still time to rescue them. She stays quiet behind the door and breaths flustered. God does not see her. They are transubstantiated.

Her eldest son is facing her; he stares at her. The youngest daughter is with him. She is hiding behind him; from there, she peeks at her mother. It seems she does not recognize him. But in no time she shows mistrust. The children step back. They are shaking. She is there with the knife. This time nothing will happen because the husband will come to stop the killing.

She will know then that the enemy is powerful. She is tied down and put to sleep. They take her away to a psychiatric ward. When she opened her eyes, her true children were standing around her. They had taken flowers and had put them in a glass, next to the window. They were showing her their schoolbooks for her to go through them. Her mother and sisters were also there. It was admirable to see how she reinserted herself and quickly adopted the ways of her surrounding. She understood — because it was explained to her — that her thing had been insanity, and that she would have to deal with it from then on, in the same way you deal with cancer, or with a motor disability.

Soon all sisters were laughing, and as they did, they recovered the trust in themselves and in their sick sister. Her two children were standing in front of her bed; they were laughing and exchanging looks. The insanity of a mother touches the roots of whom is born, undermines the very gestation, since naturally, it is an original disconnection from everything, a primordial fault. Poor mother. And poor kids! The re-composition, the re-insertion of the elements is sought for. For a moment, the relatives understand, but they try to forget in order to live their lives, filled with success: jobs, loves, journeys.

Then, time expands in front of them, a finite time, because death approaches soon. Therefore, these are times to indulge, to enjoy life, the young bodies, food and other worldly pleasures. Parties are organized for the entire family. There are issues among the family members, but love acts like a unifying net. And so, days go by. While lineal time ticks, the woman acts as if she was not insane, and she generally fulfils her tasks as a mother and as a wife.

Existence comes to her from within, like a fire, and from it, passion emerges, the loving feeling, hope, and faith. She makes all that fit with the surroundings, and find their stop within the totality, like within a language. In this way, relationships are re-established, and beings connect with each other.

The fear for the death of her children is lighter during this period, although it remains within the deep emotions of the woman. She tries to suppress the vision. But this time, the cracks have touched upon the limits of dreams, they have penetrated the membranes; and when she woke up, everything was dark. The bedroom is identical to the one the day before, the son arrives with his blond fringe, the youngest daughter gives her a hug and wants to absorb her sadness with love.

Both had stayed by her bed, and she watched them. Luckily, the children managed to set ties beyond the family home. This allowed them to secure relationships that could eventually save them, pushing them to new connections. They have friends, and they get on well with their grandparents and aunts; also with the father. At that moment, she felt like singing and she sang, hugging the bodies of her children. They sang with sadness in their chests. Brightness came through the opened window, and the girl had her look set on her mother.

The son had closed his eyes. There is a light that circles behind the leaves. The men chat by the barbeque. The women, scattered, walk alone or in pairs, and some go with their babies and put them on the grass for them to crawl.

One grandmother is sitting next to another grandmother and a grandfather, and she observes her grandchildren on the horizon. Behind them all, is the great grandfather, firm and smiley. Those who talk, do so over current affairs, or about future projects, or they narrate an anecdote. The others eat or play a sport, setting their bodies in motion so that the mind can rest.

The children are concentrated: mind, body, wishes and emotions, all at the service of punctual entertainment. And so time goes by, and then dusk. The family turns on a light inside the gallery, and they watch the nightfall. There are fireflies. Someone brings a guitar and they start to play.

Others serve food and dance to the music. A television is switched on inside the house, and quickly the children go over there to watch the images. Love circles around. God is not present. He is on the other side of the root. It is his dark shape. It serves other combinations. The chain is damaged. There is the original, very far in time, and then the ramifications. In the Old Testament, where the early times are evidenced, the life of sons and daughters used to be extended through many years. And they would arrive in tens to the world, born from the same father and different mothers.

From all these ramifications and splittings, the fathers were born, who at the same time had more children, until the grandparents of the children of this woman arrived. And then, there is her, and her husband and their two children. She has a father and a mother, and he had a father and a mother, although they are both dead.

In addition, she had eight sisters, while the husband is an only child. The fatherless children seek to find systems of meaning in other men or women that their mothers approach, or that they themselves appease, and in this way they set up other combinations and they subsume into new structures. With regard to the husbands, there is one who sometimes walks up to a wood close to the campito, and there gets naked in front of me. He does it near a tree with low branches. He places his t-shirt and his trousers over a rock, and his shoes and socks on the ground.

His legs are strong, and his muscles well-defined. He squats down and clings to the higher branches. His back and leg muscles become marked, and his buttocks are firm. Then, he takes his short off and stays naked. This episode recurs often. He lies down on the grass, with his stomach to the sky, and he shows himself off. There are movements in the upper branches: small birds flying over the leaves.

One of the young sisters arrives. She sees him on the ground, and bends over him. Now, both of them are in front of me. She undresses, her legs fine and open; and he is on top of her. In the gallery, one of the sisters asks where they are, but no one replies. If there are corrosive elements in the system, the rest cracks. The crazy woman looks for the knife with her eyes, and then goes to the window to look at the poplars. The children are playing downstairs. There are sixteen in total. The eldest is a boy and is twelve years old.

The youngest is a girl, she is two and she is tied up to a tree with two other ones, aged three. The eldest boy and the girl the follows in age, have placed six of their cousins and siblings in a circle, and they walk around them with long stick which they rest on the ground as if they were walking sticks. Sometimes they go over the extended legs of their cousins. Three boys are in a little house build with branches, and from there they look out; there are others hanging from other trees. The eldest ones brought a rope, and they have enslaved the middle ones so that they would tie up the youngest ones.

The middle ones beat the young ones, who are tied up, with sticks, and these latter ones pretend to cry, when in fact they accept and they enjoy the punishment. The mothers are accomplices. They look at their children from the corner of their eyes, and carry on chatting as if nothing is going on. From time to time, they throw their babies to the ground so that they can quickly come back to them. Meanwhile, the eldest children convince the little ones to drink certain substances with the aim of making them dumb and introduce them into the world of sex.

Then they take them to the woods further away where, in connection with uncles or friends of the uncles, the perverse action comes to be. Among the adults, there is an exchange of information through mobile phones, since all of them have cell phones. At this moment, ten of the children speak on the phone.

They do it over the bodies of the little ones, who need to be rescued despite the complacency with which they accept this macabre game. The plan is to suppress the will in the little one, and manipulate it through pleasure. In this sense, the younger ones are not guilty, although they do provoke the powerful ones with their innocent moves. God has reached the root. At five in the afternoon, the family gathers to drink tea as if nothing was going on. The children seat comfortably in circles, and play innocent games; the adults read or watch television, and sip on soft drinks. The sisters talk with their husbands in a cam voice, and the husband who undresses in the poplars explains to one of the grandfathers why he has lost his last job.

No reference is made to the recent events. The crazy woman flows with the rest, drowsy with pills. They are all masks. In order to survive, the family will need to reaffirm the roles of those who conform it, and will also need, above anything else, the extra information to get organised; namely: a network of meaning that frames it, such as the existence of God or the acquisition of a new religious system.

If there is no order, the cloth breaks into pieces, from within it, the root may emerge. The intra-familiar behaviour will depend on the individual, and at the same time generous, life of its forming unities. Right now, the adult members of the family are gathered in front of the TV set. The news deal with the important current issues. Meaning is built. Is it manipulation or free market? The family acquires the given structures and fits them in to their life flow as if they were not part of a constructed reality.

These are archetypal realities, swiftly acquired by the distracted citizens. Having reached this point, it is timely to talk about what happened once. It was during the youth of one of the grandparents, when he travelled to Paraguay to buy watches for his family. He travelled alone because no one had wanted to go with him. At the border, the patrol officers stopped him and anti-drug dogs sniffed him. Once imprisoned, he spent three days in jail. No one knew his whereabouts until finally he was granted permission to phone his wife from the police phone.

Only then she found out about his incarceration. The grandfather was accused of first-degree negligence for drug trafficking from Paraguay to Argentina. There was no way of proving his innocence. The police surrounded him, they responded to higher, political interests that saw in accusing an ordinary citizen, from a traditional Argentine family, of drug dealing, a chance to win votes in favour of the government.

The grandfather tried to rebel up, even hitting the patrol officers; yet, it was all in vain. His situation got gradually worse. He was in a little town in the border between Argentina and Paraguay, desperate and alone. His wife soon came to rescue him. She pleaded for the intervention of international bodies, and thanks to that, in addition to a modification in his sentence, the grandfather was set free. This story, like many other ones, is part of a past full of abuse and injustice that the National Government committed against the Argentine family.

Mechanisms of guilt and punishment rule entire countries, where the main victim is, firstly, the ordinary citizen, and then, the family, its nuclear component. The middle sister does not take medication. As a result, the root took over her. Now, it lies inside her. From there, she contemplates the social machine, stupefied, and with the knife in her hand. Her young daughter looks at her from the door. The mother has no rational comprehension of the time and space coordinates in which she is circumscribed.

What she does know is that she has to protect her children from the dangers of those from within. Dead or alive, she will take them with her to the root. The main thing is to identify who are all these sisters and grandparents walking around. And that number of children playing under the trees. She feels as if she is in a neutral place, and emotionless place. When she turns around, she sees her daughter popping her head through the door. The daughter observes her, alarmed. She wonders if this girl will carry information to those inside. She notices that these have copied the exact features of her daughter.

She gets close to her and hugs her, with a smile on her face and the knife in her hand. She takes her to her breast and starts roaring with laughter. She realises that this is her daughter! Her real little daughter! She laughs out loud, making a colossal sound, and the girl lets herself be hugged. Her eyes are open. Inside, the girl feels like running away to find her real mother. What she doesn't know is that what she searches for is the archetypal mother, and not the real mother; she is also looking for her archetypal daughter, and not for the real one.

God has made them from clay. Poor things, they cannot find each other. Despite hugging each other, they are scared of one another. Yet the important thing now is to get rid of any emotion, because in emotion lies danger. Although it is also true that in emotion, the exit could be found; but that is a hard path.

In relation to the personal history of these two, neither will find solace for many years, but later on, the root will capture them, so there is nothing to worry about. The husband returned to the poplar grove, and he is undressing again. He does it slowly, as always. He unfastens his belt buckle with his fingers, and he pulls down his trouser.

Before that, he takes off his shirt and extends his arms. He clenches his fists so that his muscles appear well-defined. He has also taken off his shoes and his socks. He has been placing everything over the rock. Then, he falls to his knees on the grass and he stretches his hands forward, raising his back and tensing his buttocks. His heels are loose. The wife that usually joins him is not here today. At the root lies thought; words emerge, and go towards it.

The rest is shapeless logos, it must be interpreted and organized so as to build reality. Mi Mama Anthony Browne. El Pequeno Rey Taro Miura. Autopista Sanguijuela Juan Villoro.
